Legal position, the working environment, staff consultation, accidents/injuries/ill health, Risk management/DSE, Manual handling, COSHH/Fire/Electrical, Safety signs/PPE.
This course is an excellent introduction to Health and Safety in the workplace, ideal for new staff, and a refresh course for existing workers.

MANUAL HANDLING
The 1974 Health and Safety at Work Act dictates that "Every employer must ensure so far as is reasonably practicable the health, safety and welfare of all employees".
This half day course is an introduction to the principles of moving and handling. It is aimed at those who might have to move or handle inanimate loads as part of their activities at work. The course covers all the topics recommended by the HSE and will help employers comply with the The Manual Handling Operations Legislation 1992 (as amended).
Course contents:
Aim: To reduce muscular skeletal injuries. Examine manual handling. Identify manual handling hazards and risks. Injuries caused by poor technique. Basic anatomy and physiology of the spine.
Back problems. Causes of injuries. Legislation. Riddor. Ergonomics.
5 steps to risk assessment. Manual handling individual/group demonstration.
